
SUSAN MCLAREN
CO-OWNER & HEAD NUTRITION COACH
Susan spent most of her life chasing high-level athletics, from competitive swimming to anything else that would let her compete. A self-described fitness and nutrition nerd, she's read every book and tested every program she could get her hands on. Missing the camaraderie of team sports, she walked into her first CrossFit gym in 2012 and fell hard for the mental, physical, and communal grind of it. A year later she launched a CrossFit Kids program to build confidence and community in young athletes — the early seed of what would grow into this gym.
Nutrition has become one of Susan's biggest passions as a coach, and she works with clients through Healthy Steps Nutrition to help them find a sustainable, balanced approach to eating rather than chasing quick fixes. She's traded some of her own barbell time for triathlon training in recent years, putting in the miles on the bike, in the water, and on the road, all while fundraising for the Pan-Mass Challenge to support cancer research at Dana-Farber. Whatever the goal, Susan brings the same intensity and warmth to coaching every athlete who walks through the door.
Outside the gym: Susan's home life is just as full as her training log — three energetic kids, two dogs, and a husband, plus a love of surfing, eating well, and making a mean fresh margarita.
